While the DOD, NASA, and other government agencies are starting to investigate rapid launch technology, many companies are already working on rapid satellite launch capabilities to deal with events on Earth as well as in space.

With under two hours to go until launch, NASA’s highly anticipated Artemis I space flight was postponed after a temperature issue was identified in one of its engines. The failure to the Artemis I engine may not have been avoidable, nor should it even be labeled a failure.

Space Enterprise Consortium’s (SpEC) presence within the small satellite community was apparent during the 2022 SmallSat conference in Logan, Utah. With prominent SpEC member signs in view, about 30% of this year’s SmallSat exhibitors are members of SpEC, a rapid contracting method that allows the government to quickly address emerging technology needs.

While we might still be missing flying cars, one thing is for sure. Robotics are the way of the future, and the technology of the future is quickly becoming the technology of today.

While the idea of artificial intelligence with computers dates back to Alan Turing in the 1940s, most of the terminology is quite recent and still growing.
