Polarity, Inc Awarded Other Transactions Agreement for DoD High Voltage Power Supply Enhancements
February 28, 2025

February 13, 2024 – Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division has awarded Polarity, Inc, a small business based out of California, an Other Transactions Agreement, for an Output Travelling Wave Tube (OTWT) High Voltage Power Supply Group (HVPS) prototype project. The project was awarded through the NSWC Strategic & Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems (S²MARTS) Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) vehicle and will be managed by the National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL).
Polarity has been tasked with designing and prototyping a form/fit/function replacement of the current RF OTWT High Voltage Power Supply Group.
“The RF OTWT HVPS prototype project will develop solutions to increase the operational reliability of the OTWT HVPS group. The new design solutions will also be focused on repairability, maintainability, and affordability of the asset. This project will improve the reliability and decrease operational costs for the Navy’s Airborne Electronic Warfare systems,” said Doug Crowe, Senior Vice President of Program Management at NSTXL.
The end solution for OTWT HVPS will be compatible with the current RF transmitter system and will utilize a maintainable and reparable design. There is potential for follow-on activity once initial prototypes are complete.
This project is made possible through the use of the S²MARTS OTA vehicle. The S²MARTS team hosted a Project TALX event in June, where the NSWC Crane team connected directly with industry, sharing additional details and answering questions. By setting clear expectations for the project, the Navy was able to receive more robust solutions at the front-end, ensuring that these critical technology gets into the hands of the warfighter as quickly as possible.
