RFS Revision 1 – Posted 29 January 2026

The Government has revised the Request for Solution (RFS) for the Thermal Protection System (TPS) opportunity. The revision includes several changes to items within the revised RFS including Appendices added, a new response deadline, and a new anticipated award date.

• Appendices to the RFS on pages 21-24.
• Responses are now due 24 February 2026 at 12:00 PM ET.
• Anticipated Award date is now April 2026.

The Government has released the Request for Solutions (RFS) for the Thermal Protection System (TPS) opportunity. To review the RFS and its accompanying documents, fill out the Key Document request form on the right side of this page. To access the CUI Addendum A, please fill out this form.

Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane is seeking a prototype solution for a Thermal Protection System (TPS) capable of safeguarding an advanced missile weapon system operating at hypersonic speed and high-temperature flight profiles. The results of this prototype project will inform potential follow-on production and integration decisions for next-generation missile systems.

The Prototype Development of the Prototyping of the Thermal Protection System (TPS) Other Transaction Authority (OTA) project period of performance will be defined when the Request For Solutions (RFS) is released and by the performer’s proposed schedule.
