The Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) mission is to rapidly develop, deliver, and sustain training, testing, and information operations capabilities to enhance readiness across the operational spectrum. To do this, the PEO STRI technical team must continue to seek out and better understand transformative, cutting edge technologies to modernize capabilities. PEO STRI has developed a Top Ten List of Focus Areas that cut across product lines currently fielded as well as future requirements. This is a Request for Network Insight (RNI) across industry to help inform the Government team on advances being made to help support PEO STRI’s mission. These Top Ten Focus Areas, in no particular order, are:

  • Artificial Intelligence/Machine & Deep Learning (AI/ML)
  • Multi-Sensory Simulation & Training
  • Game Engine (Platform/Infrastructure) Development and Deployment
  • Terrain/Environment Modeling and Rendering
  • Integrated Internet of Things (IoT) at Point of Need (PoN)
  • Cybersecurity/Cross Domain Solutions
  • Embedded Training
  • Human Performance & Training effectiveness
  • Cyber (i.e. Persistent Cyber Training Environment)
  • Medical Simulation

In order to provide additional information for each technical area, PEO STRI is releasing a supporting document, PEO STRI_Enterprise_Top10TechAreas.pdf, that accompanies this RNI notice.

The Government is asking industry for information regarding their innovative and modernized solutions to one or more of these tech focus areas. Interested vendors are asked to submit an up to five (5) page informative, white paper, per use case, with a big picture description of their approach/solution to the problem. The Government anticipates follow up with vendors who present a unique, innovative approach with the potential for an invitation for a 1-on-1 teleconference or invitation for demonstration to further discussions and exploration of the idea(s). These information white papers and potentially follow-on discussions/demonstrations will help the PEO STRI technical team make informed decisions for current and future requirements allowing them to determine best path forward for the anticipated needs. The PEO STRI technical team will focus first on submissions regarding AI/ML, Multi-Sensory Simulation & Training, and Human Performance & Training Effectiveness. This RNI will remain open through September 2021 with periodic reminders for submissions.
