Project Manager Combat Terrain Instrumentation Systems (PM CTIS) is looking at options for a non-infrastructure Homestation Instrumentation Training System (HITS) upgrade. Currently, home stations do not have good commercial LTE coverage. The Army seeks to migrate the current communications solution away from multiple trailer-based systems which provides coverage of the training area to alternative solutions that have either existing or infrastructure-less communications. The PM CTIS team is looking at options such as MESH and satellite among others. These communications are divided into 2 use cases:
- Low bandwidth between a radio data unit on participant and an exercise control software suite (cloud or in a building) for coverage of a 20 km x 20 km area.
- High bandwidth between the exercise control suite and a smart device such as a tablet with coverage for an area more open and much larger than a 20 km x 20 km area.
The Government is asking industry for information regarding their innovative and modernized solutions to one or both of these problems. Interested vendors are asked to submit a one page description, per use case, with a big picture description of their approach/solution to the problem. The Government would then like to follow up with vendors with a 1-on-1 teleconference for further discussions and exploration of the idea. Both the one page information sheets and the teleconferences will help the PM CTIS team determine best path forward for the anticipated upcoming HITS upgrade contract. PM CTIS would like to have the one page information sheets submitted to [email protected] by Nov 25 with follow-up teleconferences happening in December, 2020 and January 2021.
