The Department of War, in partnership with Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, is preparing to release a new prototype project opportunity focused on accelerating test infrastructure readiness for strategic missile systems. This effort, Phased Launch Test Demonstration (PLTD), aims to enable early learning through rapid prototyping and phased testing, guiding critical decisions for missile and launcher subsystem development.

Key Areas of Interest include:

1. Prototype Test Capability Development – Adaptable infrastructure and hardware to support air and underwater launch testing.
2. Interface and Simulation Support – Tools and processes to ensure compatibility between performer prototypes and government test facilities.
3. Data Collection and Analysis – High-fidelity instrumentation and data systems to support modeling, validation, and decision-making.
4. Infrastructure Augmentation – Additional hardware and resources to avoid scheduling conflicts and support unique system requirements.

This prototype effort will inform future production decisions and long-term strategies for strategic system development and sustainment. The prototype development period of performance for Phased Launch Test Demonstration Other Transaction Authority (OTA) awards will be determined following the release of the Request for Solutions (RFS) and based on selected performers’ proposed timelines.
