Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) Wireless Independent Target System (WITS) Prototype Project

Overview
This Request for Solutions (RFS) is issued to integrate the Army-owned open system architecture (OSA), Live Training Engagement Composition (LTEC) and the Live Personal Area Network (LPAN) standard software standards, with the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) Wireless Independent Target System (WITS). This effort is in support of live force-on-force training exercises. The Government will evaluate the solutions with the intent of awarding an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) under the Training and Readiness Accelerator (TReX).

Zel Tech Training Solutions, LLC (ZTS) was awarded a PEO STRI Training and Readiness Accelerator (TReX) Other Transaction Authority (OTA) task order on 4 Dec 2018 to demonstrate the feasibility of integrating proprietary MILES Wireless Independent Target System (WITS) systems with the Army’s new open system communications architecture and software standards. This is the leading edge of Army efforts to enable fully open, interoperable and upgradable MILES capabilities.

Within nine (9) months of award, ZTS upgraded five WITS and demonstrated this “proof of concept” at the US Army Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), Fort Polk, LA. The Army then successfully tested these devices on “opposing forces” tactical vehicles during a robust US Army training rotation at the JRTC.
