Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane is seeking prototype solutions to expand the Navy’s capability to design, manufacture, characterize, and test hypersonic ceramic matrix composite (CMC) materials.
Over the last several years, there has been limited success with demonstrating these capabilities. As the weapon suppliers develop these capabilities and they become more viable, there will be a desire to go even faster. There is also a desire to place future systems in even more extreme environments. As one increases Mach number, metallic solutions become less viable and the need for high temperature CMC composites becomes more apparent.
The DASH-MOT Other Transaction Authority (OTA) prototype project will be defined by the performer’s proposed schedule but is estimated within a 30-month period for the entire effort.
