The National Security Technology Accelerator (NSTXL) engages industry, academia and other subject matter experts broadly to expedite development, demonstration, and delivery of cutting edge technology capabilities in support of Government technology challenges. NSTXL provides industry and academia with access to opportunities to showcase their technologies and capabilities to prospective military buyers across the U.S. Department of Defense, including the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. NSTXL supports our members throughout the entire lifecycle of technology testing and acquisition process from solicitation distribution through prototype development and technology transition.

The Government presents a unique and challenging environment in which to do business. NSTXL works to both maximize potential opportunities to do business with the Government and to prepare our members to be more effective Government vendors.

  • Defining Needs and Requirements

The rapid pace of global innovation creates new challenges everyday. Commercial technologies bring innovative solutions sets to these challenges. NSTXL helps define technology needs for a commercial and non-defense audience to enable a better understanding of the requirements. NSTXL supports Members in understanding what the Government needs to enable efficient and effective submissions.
  • Solicitation Distribution

The U.S. Department of Defense is constantly expanding its technology capabilities. NSTXL provides a one-stop shop for industry to view the latest technology requirements for modeling, simulation, training and readiness. NSTXL Members are able to respond to any solicitations posted on the NSTXL website.

  • Prototype Development

The unique needs and operating environments of the military require technologies to be tested and validated to ensure the delivery of the best technology solution possible. NSTXL provides opportunities for Industry and Academia to prototype and test their technologies for military use.
  • Rapid Contracting and Acquisition

Innovation in the military can only move as quickly as the contracting process allows. NSTXL utilizes a rapid contracting vehicle known as an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) to enable rapid contracting, prototyping and delivery of proven technology solutions. NSTXL is delivering a first-of-its-kind, customized process to ensure efficient contracting and acquisition to deliver technology at a private sector pace.

  • Technology Transition

NSTXL is designed to get technology to the Warfighter quickly. Once validated, the technology is only useful when in the hands of the end user. Our platform will ensure support to NSTXL Members throughout the process to ensure that the technology solution, once identified and tested, gets delivered to the field.

$100M in Project Awards

In just a single full fiscal year of operations, NSTXLhit the ceiling on our first Other Transaction Authority (OTA) for energy-related technologies, delivering $100M of project awards to our Members.

16 Program Offices Supported

NSTXL works across the U.S. Department of Defense and partnering Agencies to identify pressing technology challenges. NSTXL has supported program offices across all four branches of the U.S. Military as well as the Office of the Secretary of Defense and several Combatant Commands.

85% Funding Rate

The U.S. Department of Defense pushes out thousands of solicitations every year with only a fraction receiving funding. NSTXL works tirelessly to identify opportunities with committed funds in order to reduce risk for our Members. To date, the vast majority of projects offered to our Membership (85%) have received funding.

NSTXL recently launched the Training and Readiness Accelerator (TReX) to expedite development, demonstration, and delivery of prototypes to increase Warfighter readiness. As such, all NSTXL Members are automatically Members of TReX. With a focus on modeling, simulation, training, and readiness, TReX provides the United States Government with an agile mechanism to iterate and refine critical technologies to keep pace with ongoing and emerging challenges. By actively incorporating structured operational user feedback, TReX will identify and develop innovative solutions to inform materiel procurement requirements and acquisition.

TReX is a new era public-private partnership. Utilizing a broad innovation platform, TReX brings a first-of-its-kind capability to the U.S. Department of Defense. The Accelerator operates as a highly efficient, open-source network of top innovators across the innovation ecosystem, including industry, academia, investors, laboratories, and government. TReX provides support and engagement across the full life cycle of innovation from problem definition to ideation and solution prospecting through technology development and delivery.
